Users
Audience: District Admins managing who has access to TKG Analytics.
This is the starting point for the people in your district's account: who they are, how they get access, and how to change them. If you are not sure which page you need, start here.
Two kinds of identity: User vs Teacher
It helps to keep two separate ideas straight:
- A User is a login. Every login holds one district role - District Admin, District User, School User, or Teacher User.
- A Teacher is an instructional identity in your teacher roster. Scores, enrollments, and reports are attributed to the Teacher; by itself it is not a login.
The two meet in the Teacher User - a login tied to a teacher's Teacher record, so that teacher can sign in and see their own students. A teacher who never signs in still has a Teacher record (so their scores are attributed) but no Teacher User. In short: the Teacher is the record, and the Teacher User is the login attached to it.
Users are invited or imported and edited in the app; the Teacher record itself comes from your SIS.
The roles
Every person in your district holds one district-scoped role. An Account is your District, so these are all district roles.
| Role | Scope |
|---|---|
| District Admin | District-wide access, plus user and data management. Added in the app (invitation or onboarding), never by CSV; 1 to 5 active per district. |
| District User | District-wide access, without admin controls. |
| School User | Scoped to their assigned school or schools. |
| Teacher User | Scoped to their own Teacher, plus any additional teachers granted to them. |
Two District Admins also carry a protected designation:
- The SPOC (single point of contact) is your district's primary contact.
- The Superintendent is your district's named superintendent contact.
Both are always active District Admins. The point of contact or superintendent can reassign either role self-serve from the district dashboard, using the Update button next to each. See District Admin Users.
Two other roles - Admin and Platform Admin - belong to the TKG Analytics team and span multiple districts. They are not district roles and are not managed from your account.
How a user gets access: invited or imported
Some roles can be added either way. How a user arrived decides what you can edit in the app versus what changes only by re-importing your SIS files.
| Role | How they're added |
|---|---|
| District Admin | Invited or onboarded in the app - never by CSV. |
| District User, School User | Either invited in the app or imported from your SIS roster. |
| Teacher User | Imported from your SIS only. |
See Editing Users for what that means when you change them.
