Readiness Metric

Overview

The Readiness Metric represents a student's overall college and career readiness based on a set of predefined sources. Each student can have only one Readiness Metric, and it is automatically calculated from their individual Readiness Metric Sources.

This metric aggregates scores across multiple domains using Mississippi’s accountability model scale (0 to 1.0), providing both an assessment-level and an achievement-level score.

Getting Started

Readiness Metrics generate automatically once your students have Readiness Metric Sources on file, so there is nothing to calculate by hand.

To begin:

  1. Add your students' Readiness Metric Sources (ACT, SAT, NCRC, ASVAB, and Diploma records). See Readiness Metric Sources for how to enter them and the access required.
  2. TKG Analytics generates each student's Readiness Metric from those sources automatically.

Until any sources exist, the Readiness Metrics page shows a Get Started prompt that links you straight to Readiness Metric Sources.

Who Appears on the Overview

The Readiness Metrics overview lists your currently enrolled students. Students who have graduated or withdrawn are kept out of the table, the CSV, and the PDF, so the roster you read and the file you hand to staff match who is in your schools today.

Enrollment comes from your nightly student file. A student who stops appearing in that file is treated as no longer enrolled, which is what removes last year's seniors from the overview once your new year's roster arrives.

District-level users can still reach former students. Use the Active Students filter beside the School and Grade filters and choose Inactive Students. The Current View banner names the set you are looking at, and an export taken from that view is marked as inactive in its filename so it cannot be confused with a current one.

School-level users always see currently enrolled students at their assigned schools.

How It Works

Readiness Metrics are not entered manually. Readiness Metrics are generated using a student’s associated Readiness Metric Sources, such as ACT, SAT, NCRC, ASVAB, and Diploma records.

The system automatically:

  1. Gathers the highest available score for each metric type (ACT, SAT, etc.)
  2. Converts the raw score into a readiness level (0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, or 1.0)
  3. Assigns those values to the student’s Readiness Metric record

Metric Components

Field Description
ACT Level Readiness level based on ACT score
SAT Level Readiness level based on SAT score
NCRC Level Readiness level based on NCRC certificate level
ASVAB Level Readiness level based on ASVAB score
Diploma Level Readiness level based on diploma type
Assessment Readiness Indicator Highest value among ACT, SAT, NCRC, ASVAB
Achievement Readiness Indicator Value based on diploma level

The Assessment Readiness Indicator reflects the student’s best assessment readiness, while the Achievement Readiness Indicator reflects diploma completion and endorsement level.

Score Conversion Logic

Each raw score is converted into a readiness level based on predefined cut points:

ACT Level

ACT Score Range Readiness Level
< 15 0
15–16 0.25
17–19 0.5
20–24 0.75
≥ 25 1

SAT Level

SAT Score Range Readiness Level
< 850 0
850–929 0.25
930–1039 0.5
1040–1209 0.75
≥ 1210 1

NCRC Level

NCRC Certificate Readiness Level
No Certificate 0
Bronze 0.25
Silver 0.5
Gold 0.75
Platinum 1

ASVAB Level

ASVAB Score Range Readiness Level
< 31 0
31–49 0.25
50–64 0.5
65–92 0.75
≥ 93 1

Diploma Level

Diploma Type Readiness Level
No Qualifying Completion 0
Diploma Equivalency or Traditional Diploma in 5th year 0.25
Traditional or Alternate Diploma 0.5
Diploma with Academic, CTE, or JROTC Endorsement 0.75
Distinguished Diploma 1

Notes

  • All readiness levels must be between 0 and 1, inclusive.
  • If a student has no valid score for a source, a value of 0 is used.
  • These values are also exportable using the CSV and PDF export feature for reporting purposes.
