SLAIF Files

This is the fourteenth step of the onboarding wizard. Here you upload your SLAIF files. SLAIF files give TKG Analytics an accurate picture of your students' previous scores, which lets us calculate growth and generate your impacts.

For more on what these files contain, see SLAIF Scores.

Files to upload

You will see one upload slot for each of the four school years before your current one, each as an Excel (.xlsx) file. If your current school year is 2026-2027, you will upload SLAIF files for these years:

Upload Recommended name
2022 - 2023 SLAIF slaif_2023.xlsx
2023 - 2024 SLAIF slaif_2024.xlsx
2024 - 2025 SLAIF slaif_2025.xlsx
2025 - 2026 SLAIF slaif_2026.xlsx

When every year's file is uploaded, click Next to continue.

Why four years

A student's prior score comes from the year they were in 8th grade, so how far back we reach depends on the student. A 9th grader's prior year is one year back and a 10th grader's is two. A student who takes an end-of-course test later than usual reaches back further still, which is what the oldest year is for.

If the state has not released the newest year

The newest year is often not published when a district onboards. If it is not out yet, tick MDE has not released the 2025 - 2026 SLAIF yet on that slot and you can submit without it.

Ticking it closes that year's upload box, so nothing can go into a year you have just told us is not out; untick it and it opens again. It records who marked it and when, and you still owe us the file. Once the state publishes it, upload it through your district's file uploader and TKG Analytics imports it overnight without anyone needing to ask.

These names are recommended, not required

The file names above are just our recommended names. They are not required for onboarding. Upload the correct SLAIF file into each year's slot in Excel (.xlsx) format, and TKG Analytics stores it under the right name for you.

Finish District Information first

You can only upload files once the District Information step is complete.

Where to find these files

These are your state SLAIF files for each of the prior four years. If you are not sure where to find them, open a Helpdesk Ticket and we will help.
